Christina Murray
Christina Murray is professor of Human Rights and Constitutional Law at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and is currently a Jennings Randolf Senior Fellow at the United States Institute for Peace. Between 1994 and 1997 she served as one of seven members of the Panel of Experts elected by the South African Constitutional Assembly to advise the Assembly on drafting South Africa’s final constitution. In 2009 and 2010 she served on the Committee of Experts that prepared the 2010 Constitution of Kenya. She has also advised parliamentarians, NGOs and civil society in a number of countries (including Nepal, Bolivia, South Sudan, Libya and Indonesia) on the process of adopting a new constitution and constitutional design. In South Africa most of her recent work has concerned constitutional design, multi-level government and establishing new parliaments. She is President of the African Network of Constitutional Lawyers and Vice President of the International Association of Constitutional Law.
