Daniel E. & Joyce G. Straus
The official name of the Straus Institute is the “Joseph and Gwendolyn Straus Institute for the Advanced Study of Law & Justice.” Daniel E. Straus ('81) and his wife Joyce G. Straus, through their family foundation, made the generous donation which allowed the establishment of the Straus Institute, named after Daniel’s parents Joseph Straus ('37, '43) and Gwendolyn Straus. Joseph and Gwendolyn Straus were believers in the paramount importance of ethics in business and in all aspects of life, and committed to philanthropy and community involvement. This Institute is a representation of their belief in the power of education and ideas.
NYU and NYU School of Law are tremendously grateful for this gift, which facilitates high level research and scholarship on those issues of law and justice which are of relevance to society and serve a public interest.
